Pacific Rails Inc. is a game designed by Dean Morris and illustrated by Damien Mammoliti. Well-known for his work on the games Brass, Nocturion, and more, professional illustrator and game artist Damien Mammoliti joined the Vesuvius Media Team to create the stunning artwork of Pacific Rails Inc. From the box cover all the way to the game board, the artwork is highly-detailed and beautifully crafted.

Pacific Rails Inc. is a worker placement and resource management board game. It was released in 2019 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the “Trans-Continental Railway.” The railroad connects the United States from coast to coast.

In the game, the players are each the President of one of the railroad companies trying to complete the railway before the other players. In order to do so, they must hire specialized workers, build an economic engine to power their route building efforts through the harsh terrain and manage their resources.

PR eclaté

The end of the game is triggered when there is a complete railroad from one side of the map to the other, regardless of who laid which track tiles. The player who placed the track tile(s) that completes the connection from coast to coast immediately receives 15 victory points.

The impressive graphics will take you back 150 years for the time it takes players to successfully link coast to coast with railroads and the race to complete the railroad is on!

The art in this game is equally fantastic as all of Vesuvius Media’s games. The design was incredibly thorough and the game historically complete. It touches on all the steps necessary to build the railroad for example players need to hire specialists, activate their train, upgrade their carriage, lobby Congress to obtain resources and assistance and so much more!

The game’s mechanics are an awesome combination of route building, engine building and worker placement. The variety of the mechanics also increases the game’s replayability.

Overall, the material is of amazing quality and all of the plastic components are extremely detailed. It is very fun to unbox and quite satisfying to manipulate.

The game is of about medium complexity and will last on average an hour. It’s great for game night with intermediate to expert players stepping into the more complex train games.

One game lasts from 60 to 90 minutes, making it ideal for game night with the family or between friends! The game is for 2-4 players aged 14 years-old and up.

So, are you ready to change the course of history?
